Discussing treatment approaches
External-beam radiation or brachytherapy may be discussed. Ask about the role of each option and any preparation your plan requires.
What does concurrent treatment mean?
At some stages, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are given during the same course of care. If this is proposed, ask for the treatment and test days to be marked separately, and ask where brachytherapy fits in if it is part of the plan.
What should I ask before pelvic radiotherapy?
Ask what changes in urination or bowel habits might occur and who to contact about them. If you have questions about sexual health or fertility, discuss possible effects and available support before treatment starts.
