Preparation and follow-up
Preparation, source placement time and anaesthesia depend on the technique. Ask about a companion, appointment timing and aftercare instructions.
Can I be around family after brachytherapy?
After the source is removed in temporary brachytherapy, your body no longer gives off radiation from it. With permanent implants, you may need to limit close contact with children or pregnant people for a time. Ask the treatment centre for written instructions specific to your procedure, including how long to follow them.
What should I ask before going home?
Ask when you can return to normal activities, which symptoms to report promptly, and when your next appointment is. If you receive pain medicine or special home instructions, ask the team to explain how to follow them.
